Town Historian

Todd Bensley started as the Village of Medina Historian in 2005, after serving as the president of the Medina Historical Society.

Throughout his tenure he has answered innumerable questions from individuals about local history; partnered with the Friends of Boxwood Cemetery, the Medina Sandstone Society, the Orleans County Historical Association, the Medina Central School District, the Medina Area Partnership and the Village of Medina on tours throughout the village; gave presentations on Medina history; assisted with the procurement of historic markers; wrote the nomination for Boxwood Cemetery to be included on the National Register of Historic Places; helped input data for a searchable database of Boxwood Cemetery burials; and wrote two books about Boxwood Cemetery – Boxwood Cemetery: Where the Past is Present and Boxwood Cemetery: Uncovering the Past.

Medina Historical Society

Organized in 1971, the purpose of the Medina Historical Society is to preserve and maintain annals and relics of Western New York, especially the Village of Medina and the Townships of Shelby and Ridgeway and to educate the people in the history of their community.
